Oguzhan Oguz Named AVCA All-American Second Team; Morgan, Paula, Roquet Awarded Honorable Mention

Âé¶¹Çø men's volleyball player  (Bursa, Turkey/Ocean) was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Second Team All-American, the AVCA announced.  (Dike, Iowa/Dike-New Hartford) (Tampa, Fla./Berkeley Preparatory School)½ý²Ô»å  (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) were all named  AVCA Honorable Mention. 

"I am super proud and excited for our team and these individual athletes," Âé¶¹Çø men's volleyball coach  said. "I believe these individual awards are a reflection of the overall team's performance and the individual excellent play and effort these young men put forth." 

Oguz appeared in 28 matches and a total of 108 sets in his first season as a Flyer. Oguz was a First Team All-MIVA selection and a member of the MIVA All-Tournament Team.

The junior lead the team and is ranked second in the MIVA with 435 kills, which is third in the nation, and ranks 10th in the nation in kills/set at 4.01. Oguz also leads the MIVA with 497 points and 4.60 points/set, which ranks 13th in the nation. 

Morgan, a team captain this season, appeared in 29 matches, with a total of 106 sets, and was a Second Team All-MIVA selection. Morgan accumulated 1,021 assists, ranking him second in the MIVA and seventh in the nation. 

During the season, Morgan recorded his 3000th career assist, which ranks him 6th all-time in the Âé¶¹Çø record books.  The setter also recorded 9.63 assists/set, helping the team record a .333 hitting percentage on offense, which ranked second in the MIVA and 7th in the nation. The senior recorded 12 service aces, 145 digs and 50 blocks. 

Paula, a team captain this season, appeared in 30 out of the 31 matches, competing in115 sets, and was a Second Team All-MIVA selection.  Paula was a four-time MIVA Defensive Player of the Week. 

The libero led the MIVA and the nation in total digs (287) and is first in the MIVA and seventh in the nation at digs/set (2.50). During the season, Paula achieved his 500th career dig, etching himself in the men's volleyball record book with a program and career best single match record of 22 digs and second overall in total digs for a single season. 

Roquet, a team captain this season, appeared in 29 matches and 115 sets and was a Second Team All-MIVA selection.  He is receiving his second consecutive All-AVCA honor.

During the season, Roquet recorded his 1,000th career kill and achieved 500 career digs, putting him in a elite group of outsides at Âé¶¹Çø.  He ranks sixth in the MIVA with 372 kills, eighth in kills/set (3.23) and is second in both categories on the team as well.  Roquet is ninth in the league with 80 blocks and top 15 in digs (160) and aces (33)

The Flyers finished the season at 21-9, third in the MIVA Conference. and ranked 15th in the AVCA National poll.  It was the Flyers eleventh 20-win season under Friend and their 17th straight MIVA tournament appearance and 15th MIVA tournament semifinals or better.
